Platform-things: from embedded to embodied
David Cuartielles, researcher at Malmö University and co-founder of Arduino, welcomes you to the exhibition “Platform-things”. The exhibition will take you on a 15 year long journey about how Arduino has been transformed into interactive technology all around the world.
Before Arduino entered the stage, programmable circuit boards were so expensive that an entire class had to share one. Arduino made the technology accessible for anyone that works with an interactive project and wants to create new technology – it doesn’t cost more than a text book. And with community work all over the world, it has been proved – it really is for everyone. Read more about Arduino here

The exhibition revisits some of the projects presented in Cuartielles’ dissertation “Platform Design: Creating Meaningful Toolboxes When People Meet.” With photographs and reflections it explores a 15 years long timeline made of hardware prototypes, products, software, and thousands of hours of interaction with end users. The exhibition is built using the Arduino platform as an example of how a modular platform can result in the creation of other tools and systems.
